Iraq War
The Iraq War (), sometimes called the Second Gulf War was a protracted armed conflict in Iraq from 2003 to 2011. It began with the 2003 invasion of Iraq, invasion of Iraq by the Multi-National Force – Iraq, United States-led coalition that overthrew the Ba'athist Iraq, Ba'athist government of Saddam Hussein. The conflict continued for much of the next decade as Iraqi insurgency (2003–2011), an insurgency emerged to oppose the coalition forces and the post-invasion Iraqi government. Iraq,; ku, عێراق, translit=Êraq officially the Republic of Iraq, '; ku, کۆماری عێراق, translit=Komarî Êraq is a country in Western Asia. It is bordered by Turkey to the north, Iran to the east, the Persian Gulf and Kuwait to the southeast, Saudi Arabia to the south, Jordan to the southwest and Syria to the west. The capital and largest city is Baghdad. Iraq is home to diverse ethnic groups including Iraqi Arabs, Kurds, Turkmens, Assyrians, Armenians, Yazidis, Mandaeans, Persians and Shabakis with similarly diverse geography and wildlife.
